CBS has ordered that the "CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationTMFingerprint Examination Kit" and the "CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationTM Field Testing Kit" be pulled from all toy store shelves nationwide

I have critical news to report and need your help to spread it -- CBS has ordered that the "CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationTMFingerprint Examination Kit" and the "CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationTM Field Testing Kit" be pulled from all toy store shelves nationwide and not sold because they might be contaminated with asbestos.

Please share this news with all parents and others that ought to know!

Last Friday, I told you that, on behalf of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), Public Justice was seeking an urgent meeting with CBS, which licenses the toy in conjunction with its popular "CSI" series, and Planet Toys of New York, the toy distributor, to discuss how they were going to protect children and other consumers from tremolite -- a deadly form of asbestos -- that ADAO's testing found in the fingerprint powder in the "CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit." At the meeting, we discovered that the fingerprint powder was also contained in Planet Toys' "CSI Field Kit." CBS asked Planet Toys to remove both toys from all shelves -- and stop all sales -- while further testing could be done.

In the meantime, Connecticut's Department of Consumer Protection did its own testing of the "CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit," found tremolite in it, and ordered a full recall in the state. But Planet Toys is still not doing all it should.

Planet Toys has posted on its web site and notified all toy retailers that it is "temporarily issuing a voluntary "stop sale" of the "CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit," but Planet Toys has not said anything on its web site or told retailers about the potential danger of the "CSI Field Test Kit." Its web site even says that "no other Planet Toys products, including other CSI-branded products, are affected by this stop sale order."

We are working to hold Planet Toys accountable, but, with Christmas approaching, we need your help!

PLEASE HELP US MAKE SURE THAT ALL PARENTS AND POTENTIALLY INTERESTED OTHERS KNOW THAT BOTH OF THESE CSI TOYS MAY BE CONTAMINATED WITH ASBESTOS AND COULD BE DEADLY! CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN OR ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH EITHER OF THEM. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.

Thanks very much. Have a wonderful, happy, and healthy holiday season and new year!
