Are Written Estimates Required on Your Vehicle Before Body Shop Starts Repairs?

Question: Am I entitled to a written estimate before a body shop can start repairs on my car? Answer: You're entitled to a written estimate for any repairs over $100. Two kinds of estimates are possible: parts and labor, plus or minus 10 percent; or a maximum price. The body shop must receive written approval of any repairs and a final written invoice when repairs are done. If you do not want a written estimate, you must decline it in writing.
