Another Death at the Lake Forest Metra Station
On Feb. 5 Amtrak Hiawatha train No. 339 killed one teenager and injured another on the tracks north of Conway Road in Lake Forest, Illinois, a quarter of a mile from the Conway Road rail crossing. Ju Young “Chris” Lee, a senior at Lake Forest Academy from South Korea was pronounced dead at the scene. The female was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, according to Chip Pew, coordinator of the Illinois Commerce Commission’s Operation Lifesaver.
According to Metra spokeswoman, Meg Reile, the train was reportedly traveling from Chicago to Milwaukee at 70 miles per hour.
The two were reportedly walking north, with the male walking between the rails and the female walking next to him outside of the rails.
