Professor Mark E. Steiner
Mark E. Steiner is a professor of law at South Texas College of Law, where he teaches American Legal History, Asian Americans and the Law, Consumer Transactions, Internet Legal Research, and Torts. He is the author of An Honest Calling: The Law Practice of Abraham Lincoln, recently named among the “Best of the Best” for 2007 by the Association of American University Presses and given a superior achievement award by the Illinois Historical Society. He is a former associate editor of the Lincoln Legal Papers and was a member of the project’s Advisory Board. In 2005, he was a Fulbright Scholar at National Taiwan University. He received both his law degree and his Ph.D. in history from the University of Houston, and his B.A. with special honors in History from the University of Texas at Austin. Steiner’s efforts in teaching citizenship classes to immigrants seeking naturalization were recently recognized by USA Freedom Corps, a White House office that promotes volunteer service in America, which gave him a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
