Highland Park Resident Killed in Freight Accident

A Highland Park woman’s car was struck by a freight train in Buckley, Illinois, on Monday , July 25, 2011. The Chicago Tribune reported that the incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. when the woman was navigating her 2007 Audi on Iroquois County Road 950 North.
The car was hit just in front of the driver’s door by a southbound Canadian National Freight train, throwing the car into a ditch located on the west side of the tracks, the Tribune said. The woman was reportedly pronounced dead on the scene and various authorities are investigating the accident.
