Federal Jurors Get 25 Percent Pay Hike

For the first time in 28 years, jurors in federal court will receive a pay hike of 25 percent. That means that for each day that a person sits as a juror in federal court, he or she will receive a check for $50, up from $40 that has been in effect since 1990.

Clifford Law Offices and Luvera Law Firm Inspected Derailed Amtrak Train with Their Experts

Clifford Law Offices of Chicago and Luvera Law Firm of Seattle, on behalf of their two dozen clients who were victims of the December Amtrak derailment near Seattle, Washington, along with their retained transportation expert Charley Pereira inspected the Amtrak 501 train wreckage with the intention of collecting data that will support their legal efforts to best represent 30 passengers and their families get answers as to the cause of the tragic derailment of the speeding train that left three people dead and dozens injured.

Sarah King to Speak at ITLA Trial & Practice Tips Seminar

sarah-f-king.jpgSarah F. King, associate at Clifford Law Offices and Vice Chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) Women's Caucus, has been invited to speak at its annual Trial Practice & Tips Seminar Friday, May 4.
King, who was part of the planning committee for the event that is co-sponsored by the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, will be speaking on "Jury Selection." King has tried many cases to verdict particularly in the area of medical malpractice. She also serves as Co-Editor in Chief of the ITLA Trial Practice Notebook used by plaintiffs' lawyers across the state.
The seminar will be held 8:15 a.m.-12:35 p.m. at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort, 3500 Midwest Rd., Oak Brook. The program has been approved for 3.75 hours of continuing legal education credit including one hour of the newly-required ethics/diversity/inclusion and mental health/substance abuse requirements.
