Clifford Appointed to National Committee of Aviation Experts
Press Release, 07/20/1998Robert Clifford, nationally prominent trial attorney, has been appointed to a special committee of aviation experts whose mission is to assess the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The federal agency asked the prestigious Rand Corporation, a "think tank" based in California, to conduct the review, the agency's first since its creation by Congress 31 years ago. The research organization put together the committee of national experts which includes Mr. Clifford .
The NTSB directs the examination of major transporation accidents that occur in the air, on the rails or at sea.
"We're looking into whether the NTSB maintains a proper relationship with airlines, plane manufacturers and other parties in its investigation of crash," Clifford said. "I'm most interested in seeing to it that families of the victims of these disasters be allowed to get involved."
Currently, the victims are not allowed to be a part of the investigative process and must wait until the NTSB's accident report is issued.
Clifford is principal partner of Clifford Law Offices , a Chicago law firm concentrating in personal injury, aviation, transportation, medical negligence, product liability and wrongful death litigation.
