Metro Briefs: Passengers File Suits
Chicago Sun-Times, 06/15/1999A dozen passengers injured in the deadly collision of an Amtrak train and a truck north of Kankakee filed lawsuits Monday against driver of the truck, his trucking company and the Illinois Central RR. Attorney Robert Clifford, who filed the lawsuits in Cook County Circuit Court, claimed the driver was negligent by not clearing the crossing. The lawsuits also accused Illinois Central of failing to maintain the Bourbonnais crossing properly. Eleven passengers were killed in the March 15 collision outside a Kankakee County steel plant.
