Tomasik Named Head of CBA Judicial Evaluation Committee
Press Release, 08/25/2005Timothy S. Tomasik, partner at Clifford Law Offices, was named Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee. The year-long appointment involves the critical task of evaluating candidates for openings on the bench of the Cook County Circuit Court as well as the Illinois Appellate Courts and Illinois Supreme Court.
Tomasik, 41, handles high-profile, complex personal injury and wrongful death cases in his seven years at Clifford Law Offices. Currently, he is working on the scaffolding collapse at the John Hancock Center, representing several victims and their families who were injured or killed in that tragic 2002 incident. It is set to go to trial this year.
He also is involved in the case involving property claims of the second World Trade Center collapse. He was part of the Clifford Law Offices team that represented internationally-acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton who was severely injured involving a Metra train. The month-long trial resulted in a $30 million verdict. He also tried the case along with Robert Clifford of a patient medical doctor who was paralyzed as a result of negligently administered spinal anesthesia. The two-week trial resulted in a $13 million verdict that was affirmed on appeal on several important issues related to trial practice and agency.
Tomasik, was named one of the Law Bulletin’s Top Attorneys Under 40 Years Old in 2002. He served as an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney, culminating his eight-year criminal trial career in the Bureau of Special Prosecutions.
Tomasik has been active in the CBA as well as the Chicago Bar Foundation.
