Bob Clifford’s Letter to the Editor in the Chicago Tribune
Web Release, 09/16/2009Robert A. Clifford, senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, wrote a Letter to the Editor in response to the Chicago Tribune’s editorial, “Doctors and Lawyers” which was published Sept. 15, 2009.
Mr. Clifford took issue with many points in an earlier editorial including the notion of calling damages in a civil justice system “jackpot justice.” He reiterated the constitutional right to a trial by jury of one’s damages. He talks about the misconceptions of malpractice insurance as well as stating, “With a $2.5 trillion price-tag for health expenses this year in this country, the larger picture must be addressed in improving the quality of health care, which itself will reduce medical malpractice.”
He has written several opinion pieces for the Chicago Tribune as well as other publications over the years on this very important topic. To read his entire recent Letter to the Editor that appeared on the Editorial Page Voice of the People section, please click here.
