Robert Clifford Participates in Inaugural UCLA-RAND Law and Public Policy Conference

Robert A. Clifford, Partner at Clifford Law Offices in Chicago, is participating Friday, Nov. 2, in an all-day conference on “Transparency in the Civil Justice System” at UCLA.

The program is the first time the RAND Institute for Civil Justice is partnering with UCLA School of Law analyzing an aspect of the civil justice system.  Clifford is on the RAND Board of Overseers.

He along with more than two dozen presenters, including Professor Stephan Landsman of DePaul University College of Law, will be speaking on the impact of transparency of data as well as evaluating alternative proposals for reform.  The Honorable Ron George of the California Supreme Court is the keynote speaker.  Kenneth Feinberg, Special Master of the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, will be making the opening remarks.

Clifford is speaking on a panel entitled, “Transparency and Privacy: The Growth of Private Dispute Resolution and Confidentiality Agreements.”  To view the paper he presented click on "Transparency in Settlements: An Argument Against Confidentiality".

The papers presented at the Transparency in the Civil Justice System will be collected in a book that will be released at an event on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., in summer 2008.
