Just before Sunday’s Toys for Tots charity motorcycle ride, the widow of a rider accidentally killed in last year’s event sued the City of Chicago, alleging that police failed to protect motorcyclists from regular traffic.
Jennifer Hoyle, a spokeswoman for the city, said the accident was caused by a motorist.
Frank Griseto, 55, an off-duty DuPage County Sheriff’s deputy from Downers Grove, was killed Dec. 5 after Arcirio Rodriguez, 74, of Chicago pulled in front of his Harley-Davidson near Western and Cornelia Avenues.
Rodriguez, who was charged with a series of traffic violations and had his license revoked, was also named in the lawsuit, Friday filed in Cook County by Gloria Griseto’s lawyers.
