High-Profile Lawyer Hired in Midway Death

Chicago Tribune, Section 2, 01/10/2006

Lawyers representing the family of a boy killed Dec. 8 when a  Southwest Airlines jet slid off a Midway Airport runway plan to use former National Transportation Safety Board officials to investigate the crash.

The family of 6-year-old Joshua Woods of Indiana hired the high-profile personal injury lawyer Robert A. Clifford and Clifford Law Offices to join their legal team on Monday, said Pam Menaker, a Clifford spokeswoman.  Clifford will assist Ronald Stearney, who will remain on as the family's lawyer.

Lawyers are dispatching former NTSB experts and investigators to investigate the cause of last year's accident and "determine appropriate responsible parties," according to a statement from Clifford.

The firm has represented families of air disaster victims in nearly every commercial air crash in the last 25 years, according to the statement.
