Clifford Law Offices Files Lawsuit Against Metra in Weekend Crash on Behalf of Man Still Hospitalized

Press Release, 09/22/2005

Robert Clifford and Clifford Law Offices today (Thursday, Sept. 22) filed a lawsuit against Metra on behalf of a man who was severely injured in Saturday’s crash when a conductor was speeding along the Rock Island line while changing tracks.

Kevin Hurley, 50, of Chicago’s South Side, was on his way to work at the Cook County Clerk’s Office where he was in the Real Estate Tax Extension Unit. He was thrown from his seat and rendered unconscious, suffering a serious blow to the head and a shattering of his left hip. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital and then transferred in the middle of the night Tuesday to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood for what he was told was more specialized care. He will undergo surgery this week.

Clifford Law Offices has been retained by a number of other persons injured on the train. The firm filed a lawsuit Monday on behalf of Bernadette Jochens of Mokena who was in the third car when the train derailed.
