Clifford Law Offices to File Cases on Behalf of Kidney Dialysis Patients Contaminated by Aluminum

Press Release, 05/08/2001

Clifford Law Offices is filing today (Tuesday, May 8) four lawsuits on behalf of patients with chronic kidney disease who suffered dialysis treatments contaminated with aluminum.

Medical experts say aluminum toxicity in the blood risks serious side effects including dementia, bone disease and ultimately death.

At least 27 patients are affected by the negligence of Renal Care Group, a dialysis center at 2601 S. Harlem Av., Berwyn.  The unusually high levels of aluminum were discovered when an employee at the facility became alerted to the alarming blood test results of these patients and conducted her own Erin-Brockovich-style investigation. The nurse/administrator informed the patients herself when the dialysis center began a cover-up of its mistake. She has since been asked to resign from the center.

The complaint filed this afternoon in Cook County Circuit Court by Clifford Law Offices alleges negligence in the center’s failure to keep safe the dialysis solution as well as its failure to take any action after notification of the tainted dialysis bath.

THE WHISTLE-BLOWER AS WELL AS ONE OF THE PATIENTS, CLIFFORD LAW OFFICES’ MANAGING PARTNER TOM PRINDABLE AND ATTORNEY ALBERT BEAUDREAU WILL BE AVAILABLE TO SPEAK TO THE PRESS AT CLIFFORD LAW OFFICES, 120 N. LASALLE ST., 31st STREET, CHICAGO, AT 2 P.M. TODAY.
