Clifford to File Lawsuit on Behalf of Bob Collins' Wife
Press Release, 06/12/2000Nationally renown personal injury attorney, Robert Clifford, will file a lawsuit this afternoon (Monday, June 12) on behalf of the wife of popular WGN radio personality Bob Collins who died in a plane crash earlier this year.
The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, alleges negligence against Midwest Air Traffic Control Service which services Waukegan Regional Airport as well as Gregory Fowler, the air traffic controller on duty at the time of the mid-air collision Feb. 8.
The lawsuit also names the estate of Sharon Hock, the student pilot, whose small plane rammed Collins’ as he tried to land. American Flyers, a flying school with several offices in the Chicago area, also is named as a defendant in the lawsuit. An instructor from that school allegedly was in contact with Hock immediately prior to or at the time of the crash.
Christine Collins, wife of the popular morning talk show host, will make a brief statement at a 4 p.m. press conference today. Robert Clifford and Fred Foreman will be available for comment at 4:00 p.m. at Clifford Law Offices , 120 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, 11th floor. They will present models of the aircraft and exhibits of the crash site.
Mrs. Collins has retained Clifford to represent her in the civil lawsuit. Clifford , a nationally recognized personal injury attorney, has represented victims and their families in every major commercial airline crash in the last two decades. Fred Foreman, former United States Attorney and Lake County State’s Attorney, is a partner at Freeborn and Peters in Chicago. He was a close friend of Bob Collins and is the attorney for his estate.
