Lawsuits Filed Against City and County in 69 W. Washington Fire

Clifford Law Offices, a nationally prominent personal injury firm, today (Tuesday, Sept. 14) will file a civil lawsuit against the City of Chicago and Cook County in the Oct. 17, 2003 fire at the County Administration Building.
The lawsuit, filed in the Law Division of the Cook County Circuit Court at the Daley Center, amends the complaint previously filed against a number of defendants including the management company and security company for the building at 69 W. Washington in Chicago’s Loop.
Clifford Law Offices represents the majority of the victims who were hurt or killed in the Friday evening fire. The new allegations against the Chicago Fire Department include that it failed to follow its own procedures and orders required to fight a high rise blaze. The county was added as the owner of the building and had responsibility for the management and security of the building.
