Lawsuit Filed for Family of South Suburban Teen Killed by car in Living Room
Press Release, 12/07/1998Clifford Law Offices will file a lawsuit and emergency motion Monday morning (Dec. 7) against the woman whose out-of-control car struck an Oak Lawn house 10 days ago, killing a 17 year old as he watched television in his home.
Robert Clifford, principal partner of the firm, and Thomas Prindable, managing partner, will be filing the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court 8:30 a.m. and appear in court at the Daley Center on an emergency motion asking the court for a protective order so that no testing or tampering with the car is allowed without all parties being present.
"We are looking into the maintenance of this older model car," Prindable said. "To determine all of the liable parties, we need to do some expert testing on the car."
Prindable went on to say that the law firm's early investigation indicates that this car has been involved in two other unrelated accidents in the last 12 months where one pedestrian was struck and injured, and a previous owner of the car struck and killed a pedestrian.
Monday's lawsuit was filed against 18-year-old Karee Krutilla of Chicago Ridge. She was driving her vehicle east on 102nd Street about midnight Nov. 28 when it lurched over a curb, ran through a yard and struck Seminara's home.
The teen died at the scene under the car apparently from massive internal injuries. Members of his family were present at the time and witnessed the youth being crushed by the car.
The lawsuit alleges Krutilla was negligent. Criminal charges reportedly were filed against her last week.
