Top Attorneys Participate in Program on Malpractice Issues in Radiology

Press Release, 02/01/2000

Two of Chicago's top trial attorneys will participate in the International Institute for Continuing Medical Education's (IICME) program on Malpractice Issues in Radiology March 31-April 1 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.

Robert Clifford and E. Michael Kelly will square off in presenting closing arguments in a hypothetical trial dealing with a missed lung cancer on a chest x-ray.

The two-day program will include presentations by physicians and insurance claims executives. Dr. Leonard Berlin, Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Rush North Shore Medical Center, Skokie, will conduct a number of the lectures on subjects ranging from diagnostic errors and communication to vicarious liability and risks. Strategies involved when deciding whether to settle or try a medical malpractice lawsuit also will be discussed.

Clifford, partner at Clifford Law Offices , recently authored an article on liability of radiologists involving mammographies that appeared in the Medical Malpractice Law & Strategy Newsletter published by the New York Law Publishing Company.

Kelly, senior partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson, has defended a number of doctors and hospitals across the country in medical malpractice actions.

Both lawyers are fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
