Clifford Law Offices Files Lawsuits Against Buffalo Grove in Police Chase that Killed One and Injured Two Teens
Press Release, 08/10/2006Clifford Law Offices, on Thursday, August 10, filed two lawsuits on behalf of two victims of a reckless police chase in Buffalo Grove that left one teenager dead and two others injured.
Corey Diamond, 16, of Arlington Heights was killed when he sat in the front seat of his friend’s 2001 Ford Taurus while they drove to a nearby store for soda and chips on Sunday evening, July 23. Brandon Forshall, 17, of Wheeling was injured as he sat in the back seat when a rental truck slammed into their car at the intersection of Dundee and Schoenbeck roads in Wheeling. Clifford Law Offices filed separate complaints in Cook County Circuit Court.
Friends of the teens left flowers at the site of the crash; Diamond was an Eagle Scout. The third teen injured was Elliot Cellini,16, of Buffalo Grove, the driver of the Taurus. He remains in critical condition at Lutheran General Hospital.
The complaint alleges that the Buffalo Grove Police Department had been chasing the truck at excessive speeds throughout the area based on questionable information. The police department has refused to release many details regarding the chase; the parents have received conflicting reports on exactly what occurred.
Attorneys for Clifford Law Offices will be going into court tomorrow seeking a protective order including the truck and the Buffalo Grove police car as well as transmission tapes to 911 and other police channels so that they may be preserved as evidence in these cases. Thomas K. Prindable, Managing Partner at Clifford Law Offices, will appear before Judge Diane Larson at the Daley Center at 9:15 a.m. on an emergency motion Friday.
