Honda Recalls Nearly 400,000 Vehicles Over “roll away” Problem

Honda recently announced that it would be
recalling nearly 400,000 of its vehicles due to an ignition switch problem that
can allow the driver to remove the key when the vehicle is not in park, causing
the car to potentially roll away.
This is not the first time that the Japanese automaker has dealt with such an
issue. According to USA Today, it is the third time Honda has had to recall
vehicles because of similar ignition switch problems in the past several years.
Specifically, the recall involves 384,220 Civics, Accords and Elements from
model year 2003 and some 2004 model year Elements.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that it has received at
least 28 reports of the ignition switch problem, 10 of which involve car
accidents.
Rosemary Shahan of Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety says that Honda’s
repeated recalls for the same ignigtion switch issue shows that car companies
"usually do the absolute minimum they can get away with rather than go to
the root of the problem," reports the news source.
If one has been involved in an accident related to this or any other recall in
Illinois, he or she may want to contact Chicago car accident lawyers to get the
justice to which he or she is entitled.
