Movie Extra Seriously Injured During Filming of Transformers 3

09/02/2010

An extra was seriously injured during the filming of Transformers 3 in Hammond, Indiana.

MyFox Chicago reports that a cable under tension snapped and went through the windshield of the vehicle being operated by the female extra.

"It snapped. The cable snapped, and the cable went into the westbound lane where we were at and hit the girl's car, smashed the windshield. From the way it looked, I don’t know if she was knocked out immediately or not but the car, because we were already going at a high rate of speed, the vehicle just went, it just kept going," a witness told the news source.

The car reportedly continued going for a mile and crashed into a concrete barrier along the way.

Police told the Associated Press that the victim was an extra and not a trained stunt professional.

The extra was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood were she was reportedly treated for "serious injuries" to the head, according to Fox.

The news provider reports that the accident caused the last day of the movie's filming to be postponed.
