09/07/2010

A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured in a hay wagon ride accident on Sunday in Wisconsin.

According to the Associated Press, the woman was hurt when she fell out of the wagon and was then run over by it. The accident occurred in Ettrick, Wisconsin, in the western part of the state.

The La Crosse Tribune reports that the victim sustained severe head and leg injuries that were reported as life-threatening. She was airlifted to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, reports the news source.

According to the Tribune, the driver of the tractor was 29-year-old Jonathan J. Nokken, who fled the scene after the accident. He was later arrested and alcohol was determined to be a factor in the crash, according to the Trempealeau County Sheriff Department.
