Worker Dies in Fall from Indiana Water Tower

09/11/2010

A Texas man working on a water tower in Kokomo, Indiana, was killed after falling and becoming entangled in cables.

The 30-year-old and another man were working on the tower on Thurday when he fell.

He did not hit the ground, but instead was tangled in cables. He was found by police hanging about 50 feet off the ground.

"The safety line caught the victim," Howard County Coroner Jay Price said in a release. "However, he became entangled in some cables. It appears he may have suffered a broken neck during the fall."

Police said that the worker died before rescue workers could reach him.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are expected to begin their investigation shortly.

WRTV reports that the men were working for Texas-based FF Coatings.
