September 3, 2026: Dr. David H. Hanson Pleads Guilty to Two Felony Counts in Kane County
Dr. David H. Hanson, the owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia, Illinois, pleaded guilty on September 3 to two Class X felony counts of producing and disseminating child sexual abuse material, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced in a press release.
Kane County Judge Donald J. Tegeler accepted Hanson’s plea during the September 3 hearing at the Kane County Judicial Center. Hanson’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 10, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 313. He is currently detained at the Kendall County Jail and remains in custody, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office. Further information is available on the Kane County State’s Attorney’s website.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced charges against Hanson in late 2025 for hiding cameras throughout his chiropractic office, primarily in private “red-light rooms” used for infrared light therapy, a treatment where patients are instructed to be fully or partially nude. His clinic was located at 1928 W. Wilson St., Batavia. A Kane County grand jury returned a 76-count indictment against Hanson on February 20, 2026. According to the State’s Attorney’s Office, the indictment included 66 counts involving child sexual abuse material and 10 counts of unauthorized video recording. Sixteen counts charged Hanson with disseminating child sexual abuse material depicting victims from his chiropractic office.
Clifford Law Offices filed two civil cases for damages in December 2025, on behalf of two “Jane Does” who were patients of Dr. Hanson and allege their privacy was violated. The civil cases also allege a breach of the duty of care owed by a health care professional, causing the patients emotional distress, humiliation, fear, anxiety, sleep disturbance, and other harm.
Matthew Moyer, senior associate at Clifford Law Offices and a former federal prosecutor, attended the September 3 criminal hearing. David F. Jasinski, partner at the firm, is also available for comment in Chicago.
The next court date on the consolidated civil cases before the Honorable Chief Judge Robert Villa will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 23 in Courtroom 310 of the Kane County Courthouse, 100 S. Third Street, Geneva, Illinois. Several other firms have filed lawsuits on behalf of other victims.
