Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, spoke to Fox News on Monday, September 7, 2026, about Sunday’s tragic incident at Miami International Airport when an Amazon cargo jet overran the runway, killing five people and injuring five more, three of them critically.
Fox anchors Lauren Scafidi and Liz Dueweke interviewed Clifford about the possible parties who may be responsible for this tragedy. He also shared that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy will hold a 3 PM CST press conference today in Miami. Clifford said the NTSB will head the investigation into the probable cause of this crash.
Clifford spoke of the “graveyard engineering” that was evident in the 2005 Midway Airport tragedy that killed a six-year-old boy and injured his family when their car was struck by a Southwest Airlines jet that overran the runway. It was only after the boy’s death that safety measures were taken to prevent a jet from leaving the runway. Here, at Miami International Airport, there were no safety measures taken to prevent a 300,000-pound jet from overrunning the runway and into traffic on nearby roadways. He said the NTSB is likely to look into whether that safety measure was implemented here, but obviously too late for those who were impacted by this tragedy.
Clifford, who represents victims and their families in nearly every commercial aviation crash in the U.S. in the last 45 years, also represents nine victims of the November 2025 UPS cargo jet crash in Louisville, Kentucky, that left 15 people dead and dozens more injured.
