Business Owners: Secure a Proper Business License, the ISBA Warns

Question:  Can a business owner be arrested for failing to have the proper business licenses? Answer:  Under state law, a business owner who operates his or her business without the proper license can be charged with committing a felony and even arrested. Most violators, however, are ticketed and required to pay a fine.     For more information about Illinois law, visit www.illinoislawyerfinder.com.  If you have a legal question, send it to illinoislawcolumn@isba.org.
