Question: How can I obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon?
Answer: On January 1, 2014, a new Illinois law went into effect requiring those who want to carry a concealed firearm to obtain an Illinois Concealed Carry License which is issued by the Illinois State Police. In general, Illinois residents who want to apply for the permit must be 21, have a valid Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card, and have completed required concealed carry firearms training and registered their fingerprints. Persons who carry firearms without the license will be subject to arrest. Further information is available at http://www.isp.state.il.us/.
