Question: If I use small claims court to settle my case, can I bring along an attorney?
Answer: While a lawyer in small claims court isn’t required, your chances of winning a case may improve if you hire an attorney. Be aware that small claims court may be used only for certain types of cases, such as breach of contract, property damage, a personal injury, evictions or repossession of property. The maximum judgment allowed in small claims court is $10,000, plus costs. For more information about Illinois law, visit www.illinoislawyerfinder.com.
