Matthew D. Moyer

Matthew D. Moyer is a senior associate at Clifford Law Offices working on cases of wrongful death and serious injuries. He recently played a role in securing major recoveries for clients, including a $25 million settlement for a bicyclist struck by a semi-truck. Mr. Moyer has also been involved in aviation disaster litigation, such as the Aeromexico Flight 2431 crash. His practice spans a wide range of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, and medical malpractice.

Before joining Clifford Law Offices, Mr. Moyer served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice in Chicago, where he investigated and prosecuted white-collar criminals, organized crime groups, and drug cartels. He authored a book about his time as a prosecutor, titled American Justice: From the Frontlines of the War on Crime. The book reached #1 in Amazon’s Law Enforcement category. In one notable case, Mr. Moyer collaborated with the FBI to uncover a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme that received national and international media coverage. 

He previously served as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, where he gained extensive trial experience across multiple divisions, including Juvenile Crimes and the Child Protection Division, where he was appointed as a trial specialist. Mr. Moyer tried multiple felony cases during his tenure as an assistant state’s attorney and as a federal prosecutor.

Originally from Fort Myers, Florida, Moyer earned his B.A. in Philosophy, cum laude, from Boston College, where he also served as captain of the Mock Trial Team. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School. He is proficient in Spanish, speaks beginner Serbian, and enjoys golfing, playing chess, and spending time with his family and friends. He lives in Chicago with his wife and daughter.
