Bob Clifford Joins Fox Tampa Bay Live To Discuss Latest Developments in Miami Cargo Jet Disaster

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner of Clifford Law Offices and recognized leader in aviation law, spoke live for a quarter hour with the anchor of Fox Tampa Bay Live on the latest developments in the Miami cargo jet crash that left five people dead and five more injured.

He addressed many new concerns being revealed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) following the recovery of the black boxes in Sunday’s crash of an Amazon cargo jet that overran a runway at Miami International Airport, then slammed into two vehicles, one outside the airport perimeter.

Clifford commented on NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy’s report late Tuesday, September 8, which revealed that the two pilots, who were injured but are now out of the hospital, apparently attempted to do a go-around. Clifford said the NTSB certainly will investigate why the pilots decided to land the 300,000-pound cargo jet with touchdown more than 5000 feet on a runway when they should have touched down at about the 1000-foot mark. Homendy said the NTSB intends to interview the pilots sometime Wednesday, seeking further details.

Clifford also commented on the need for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to seriously examine NTSB recommendations to put an arresting system at the end of runways at airports, like this one, that are adjacent to structures and public roads.

Fox anchor Regina Gonzalez also asked Clifford about the tragic loss of four lives in a small plane that crashed near the Bahamas as it was heading back to Miami Monday. Family members reported that it was relatives who took it upon themselves and found the bodies of two grandparents and two grandchildren of a family that crashed in a PA-34 Piper private jet near the Bahamas. Clifford said the NTSB recovery efforts in America are outstanding compared to other countries that simply don’t have the resources of the U.S. to find people who are subject to tragic plane crashes or to uncover the probable cause of the crashes. It is reported that the four took off from Great Harbour Cay at approximately 10:12 a.m. Monday, September 7, and the U.S. Coast Guard is helping to bring the bodies of these four family members back to the U.S.
