Families of Boeing Crash Victims React to Latest Move in Firing at Aircraft Manufacturer

The families who lost loved ones in the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX8 jet in Ethiopia nearly five years ago reacted to the firing of the corporate executive who headed the 737 MAX passenger jet program.

It is being reported that effective immediately Ed Clark, an 18-year-veteran of the company, is fired following a dramatic midair blowout last month of a door plug, underscoring continuing problems with the jet over a period of years.

Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices in Chicago and Lead Counsel in the consolidated pending litigation in federal district court involving the crash of Flight ET302 that killed all 157 on board, released this statement on behalf of the families:

“For a corporation that professes a goal to reinvigorate a company-wide culture of safety over profits, these moves at Boeing totally miss the mark. Instead, replacing a lifelong engineer with another business-driven MBA speaks volumes about the true focus of how the company will continue to run the manufacturing of commercial aircraft. And getting rid of a man who took over the operations after the two Boeing Max8 disasters smacks of a token ‘fall guy’ mentality so prevalent in a business-driven operation. True cultural change at Boeing will only come about when the board recognizes that it needs to make major C-suite changes and cleans house of those who oversaw the nearly decade-plus decline in a culture once dominated by a philosophy that rewarded engineering safety. Instead, it now is dominated by a profit motivation on the balance sheet and investor return.”

It is reported that Clark is set to be replaced by Katie Ringgold, current vice president of 737 delivery operations.
