Robert A. Clifford and the entire mock trial team trying the Ancient Greek case of Megacles can be seen on Lakeshore Public Media (WYIN) tomorrow, Friday, May 25th, at 6:30 p.m. (CST).

The exciting trial that was sponsored by the National Hellenic Museum took place at the Rubloff Auditorium of the Art Institute of Chicago in front of a packed audience on March 1.

Clifford, founder and senior partner of Clifford Law Offices, and Tinos Diamantatos of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, took on Patrick Fitzgerald and Patrick Collins who prosecuted the case of Megacles, leader of Athens.

Fitzgerald, of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, served for 10 years as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. Collins, of Perkins Coie LLP, served for nearly 10 years as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.

These powerhouse legal teams argued the case of whether Megacles saved Athenian democracy or did he betray the rule of law when, as leader of Athens, he ordered the death of Cylon who unsuccessfully attempted a coup against the city and took refuge in a temple but left the sanctuary on the Acropolis. Megacles immediately ordered his execution.

Judge Richard A. Posner and Senior Judge William J. Bauer of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, and Senior Judge Kocoras will once again serve as judges, joined by U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman and Cook County Circuit Court Judge Anna H. Demacopoulos.
