Courtney Berlin Reflects on a Year of Growth at Clifford Law Offices

In the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois’ 2025 Winter Newsletter, Courtney A. Berlin offers a thoughtful reflection on her first year as an associate at Clifford Law Offices, a year defined by professional growth, teamwork, and significant results for clients.

“As I wrap up my first year as an associate at the Clifford Law Offices,” Berlin says, “I’m proud to reflect on what has been a year filled with success, growth, and a deepened commitment to our clients.”

In her article (see page 8), Berlin highlights the firm’s many notable verdicts and settlements in 2024, reflecting its longstanding dedication to holding negligent parties accountable and securing meaningful recoveries for injured individuals and families. From complex medical malpractice cases to catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters, the firm continued its tradition of record-setting advocacy in Illinois and beyond.

She also recognizes the leadership of founder and senior partner Robert A. Clifford, who continues to serve as Lead Counsel in the ongoing federal civil litigation in Chicago on behalf of victims’ families arising from the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash involving the Boeing 737 MAX8.

Beyond courtroom achievements, Berlin notes the firm’s continued commitment to the legal community and to advancing women in the profession. In 2024, Sarah F. King was sworn in as President of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, and several attorneys were recognized for their professional excellence and leadership.

At the heart of Berlin’s reflection is a clear sense of purpose. “We hold ourselves to a standard of exceeding expectations in every case, to secure the best possible results for our clients,” she writes. That commitment, she explains, is what makes Clifford Law Offices’ work both challenging and deeply rewarding.

Joining a firm known for handling complex personal injury and wrongful death cases, she quickly learned that excellence is not simply encouraged; it is embedded in every aspect of the firm’s work. Looking ahead, Berlin expresses enthusiasm for continuing to grow as a trial attorney while contributing to a firm dedicated to justice, accountability, and client-centered advocacy.
