Clifford Law Offices Receives 2025 Elite Trial Lawyers Award for Medical Malpractice from The National Law Journal

Clifford Law Offices has been awarded the 2025 Elite Trial Lawyers Award by The National Law Journal in the category of Medical Malpractice. This national honor recognizes the firm’s exceptional results, leadership, and long-standing commitment to advocating for victims of medical negligence.

With a track record of impressive, record-breaking results, the firm’s medical malpractice team has consistently demonstrated success in handling some of the most complex and high-stakes medical negligence cases in Illinois and beyond. Their work spans a wide range of lawsuits, including surgical errors, delayed or misdiagnoses, birth injuries, anesthesia errors, and failures in emergency room care. The firm’s ability to navigate the many challenges and legal nuances of medical law has led to numerous multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements, helping to bring justice and meaningful recovery to victims and their families.

Notable medical malpractice case results obtained by the Clifford Law Offices Medical Malpractice practice group during the 2024-2025 period of eligibility include:

    • A $66 million record judgment was obtained by Bradley M. Cosgrove and Craig J. Squillace, partners at the firm, on behalf of a 39-year-old mother of four who bled to death following a negligent surgical procedure.
    • A $15 million result obtained by partners Bradley Cosgrove and Charles R. Haskins on behalf of the family of a 46-year-old man who died as a result of a failure to treat his known coronary artery disease.
    • A $10.75 million result obtained by Bradley Cosgrove, along with partner Charles Haskins and associate Marta Kowalczyk Davidson, on behalf of the family of a 52-year-old man who died from a pulmonary embolism after signs and symptoms were missed during a hospital admission.
    • A $9.53 million result obtained by partners Bradley Cosgrove and Thomas J. Tomasik on behalf of the family of a 67-year-old woman who died as a result of negligent care of a cardiologist, electrophysiologist, and an advanced practice nurse over a period of 16 months.
    • A $6.841 million verdict obtained by partners Charles R. Haskins and Sarah F. King, as well as associate Devin J. Piper, on behalf of a patient who sustained permanent, life-altering injuries due to a misdiagnosis.

The Elite Trial Lawyers Awards recognize firms that consistently achieve success and provide outstanding service in the plaintiffs’ bar. Being honored in the Medical Malpractice category reflects Clifford Law Offices’ reputation nationwide as a firm that combines legal excellence with compassionate advocacy.

In addition to this prestigious firm-wide recognition, Sarah King, partner at Clifford Law Offices, has been named one of the 2025 Elite Trial Lawyers Rising Stars of the Plaintiffs Bar by The National Law Journal. This individual distinction highlights her leadership, tenacity, and growing influence in the legal community as one of the nation’s most promising young trial lawyers.
